Every once in awhile you need a weekend where you don't do much but fun things. I had one of those this weekend with Jenn. It was, as a movie add might put it, a "non-stop tour-de-fun."
I have been dating Jenn now for 6 months, and she still likes me. So in celebration of this seeming impossibility, I went to Nashville to visit her. On friday night, we watched Finding Nemo. It was one of the best Disney movies I've ever seen. It is gorgeous in terms of the animation, and there is some damn fine voice acting as well. So Nemo kicked off our weekend of supa keenness.
The next day we went to a Wildlife Preserve called Radnor Lake and saw deer. Then we went to a fancy pants dinner at The Acorn Restaurant in Nashville. Following that we went to the coolest bar ever, The Station Inn. There we saw Ronnie Reno and his band. They were incredible. The bar was this hole in the wall where awesome acts come all the time. Apparently Jenn and I didn't fit in too well, because on the way in a lady outside the bak entrance asked us accusingly, "you goin' to tha suchi bar or tha club?" I didn't know quite what she meant so I pointed at the building and said "station Inn." She seemed satisfied. (apparently there is a fancy sushi bar across the street and people often steal station inn parking spots to go there.)
The next day we went to church and then saw The Matrix Revolutions on a six-story high IMAX screen. It was, shall we say, intense. The movie, well, see it and you decide. I'm thinking that even without the IMAX it would've been... intense.
The IMAX was in the giant outlet mall where DollyWood used to be. Thats right, they tore it down and replaced the family fun place with a giant shopping mall so huge I could easily see one being able to spend the whole day in it before you realize where you are. Oh dear.
We spent the rest of the day just hanging out. That night I made spinach and cheese quesadillas. Then I came back today.
Now, alas, my time of fun has backed up work out the wazoo. I must work supa hard and get through the week, because Geoff and Stacy's reception is this weekend... which means more fun.
Someone get me some better. I am on a roll
Sorry about that last part, with the roll comment.
I hope everyone is well.
Peace,
Joe
