First off, I would like to say a supa happy 60th Anniversary to my Grandparents. We celebrated with a mass at their house and lots of barbecue. And grandpa has a Santa Cluas beard now. It was awesome!
Also...
ANOTHER HOORAY! Here is an update about the Alabama offer. Keep your pants on folks, it supa keen. I can tell you it certainly knocked MY socks off. Well not really, but maybe just my pretend socks of excitement.
Monday Dr. Roskos-Ewoldsen called my dorm room as I was on my way back to Birmingham from Anniston and Grandma and Grandpa's Anniversary. I was talking to Carl when he said that she had called, and right after that I was talking to her on my cell phone! She was verrrry niiiice, and then made me the following offer: Full tuition and fees for tenure, plus $12,500.00 a year with the possibility of an extra $5,000.00 a year for a school-wide Dean's Merit scholarship. They would support me all 12 months out of the year, which means I would be supported during the summer and wouldn't have to get another job, just research at the lab. I just kept saying things like "oh great" and "that's wonderful, really" which I really meant... but I was so, ummmm, how shall we say, overtaken - that I'm sure I sounded like an idiot or ass or idiot-ass. But she was great, and I proceeded to call every member of my family on the way back to B'ham. I'm going to visit on friday to hang out with Nick and meet the faculty. It should be supa fine. They said we'd go to lunch and a research talk. Then she asked me "do you drink alcohol?" and I said, "ummm, yes." Then she said we would get a few beers later that night after the talk with some of the current grad students! It was grand. All-in-all, a red letter week!
And, as I was talking to Will about the good news, his digital Tascam came in, right as we were on the phone! That as well is supa keen, and soon we will record the rockinest album ever! Rock stars here we come! Have fun Will!
So thats it. I am purty darn excited I tell you.
I hope everyone is well!
Peace,
Joe

Sorry, I have to do it. To often some might say, this has become a forum for Jordan news. And here we go again. Tonight Jordan became the oldest player ever to score 40+ points in an NBA game (43 against the Nets in a win). You should read about it.
Plus, Alabama did not call me back today. Shane says that is probably becasue something happened and they couldn't meet, and that I shouldn't worry. Which I'm not. I would jsut like to hear from them, you know? Oh, and while they're at it, they should give me A MILLION DOLLARS!!!!! MWOO-HHOOOO-HAHAHAHAH!!!!!!
Um, yens. Sorry.
Ok, I'll write more later. Look at the Jordan story. LOOK AT IT!!!!
Hope everyone is well.
Peace,
Joe

HOORAY! I finally have some Grad School news to tell folks about. Today I talked to the director of the Cognitive Psychology program at Alabama and she told me some verrry niiice things indeed. Basically, leaving out the details that made me oh so uncomforatble (has anyone ever told you nice things about yourself only for you to think, "hmmm that person sounds great... when do I meet them?") but were in the end quite flattering, Dr. Roskos-Ewoldsen (an awesome name - I KNOW!) told me that they would make me a formal offer this friday and were just trying to decide where to pull "funding", which means, according to my friend and prof Shane, they are deciding what fellowship to award me. Normally they don't notify people until early April, and Dr. ROSKOS-EWOLDSEN (cool name, really) said this is how Alabama "snags the top students" or something like that, by offering stuff really early. I was pretty dumbfounded on the phone, saying stuff like "great" and even "neat" about 50bazillion times. She ended the conversation by sort of hinting that I wouldn't need to worry about tuition or any of that stuff, and that she'd call back this friday. Plus today the doctor said my White blood cell count was much better now that I've been eating corrrectly and exercising more consistently and not stressing so much. So yep, today was a "red letter day" for me, whatever that really means.
Anyway, that is enough about ol' Joe. I would like to give a "shout out" to my sister for her birthday was on Sunday (we went to Copelands and Target!) and to Peeg and Stacy, who are currently buried up in D.C. Stay warm and make many Polks!
Also, Monday was Michael Jordan's 40th birthday. CNNSI and ESPN both have some great stories about it.
Danball officially starts this weekend... woo-hoo!
I hope everyone is well!
Peace,
Joe

DANBALL! Yes. I will resurrect it. If I play it, Dan will come. Or at least some other people so I don't have to play alone.
A few years ago my brother Geoffrey and a few of his friends invented a little game called Danball. You go buy oars from Wal-Mart and a few of those cheap rubber balls from the huge bins, and then play feild hockey in a parking lot at night with no real rules except to score. At least thats the way I remeber it. It is supposedly named for the guy that delivered pizza the night of the first game: Dan. Hence, Danball. And I see no other better place then here at BSC to revive it. As we speak, I am telling Dave that it is SUPER FUN. Yep. And it is. SO, soon I will revive it. Any and all that read this that know me should call me for details. It will rule.
Besides that, I am still at school. Yep. And guess what? I am updating from the Cellar again on another slow saturday night. The only time I can, I tell you.
Anyway, I hope everyone is well.

Peace,
Joe

It seems like now the only time I update my site is at work, here in the good ol' Cellar. And even then only when I am on opening shift and only like three customers have come in. So... about my "life" lately... hmmm... classes have started again, and I am going to have a great semester. History and Systems in Psychology, Philosophy of Religion, Intro to Computer Science (yes, I am an aspiring mini-webmather!) and Independent Research. I love all my profs, and my classmates are all either seniors that I am great friends with (as in the first two and last classes mentioned) or my freshman advisees (as in Intro to Comp Sci). So that is cool. The Philosophy course will arm mr a bit better for those Sunday Afternoon dinner conversations for sure, and it is just going to be all-out supa-keen. So thats the semester. Yens.
This Thursady it was Will's birthday, and I would like to take this opportunity to say HANPY BIRNFDAYYEE MENAMAN! Yens. Meghan got him a supa cool digital recorder so we can be rock stars. You watch. It really will happen.
I am enjoying my last term as a college student. Last night I stayed out until 5am or so with Carl, Drew, Amberly, Michelle, Nick, and a few other close friends and then went to a friend's house where we stayed up until around 8am. Then I slept and came to work. Nick was (and still is) here hanging out, and the two Chandler brothers were the no-drinkin'-safe-volvo-drivers for the whole shindig, which was purty cool. A great time was had by all, I'd say. Plus we slept so much Nick gets to stay another night. Which reminds me I should call Ha Liz and Josh so we can hang out. Yep.
Nothing else is really going on... hmmm.... Oh! On friday it was my sister-in-combat (aka research-group member)'s birthday so, HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAROLINE! Yes. Good.
Oh yes, here is a link to the first webpage I have ever built from scratch. It was out assignment on friday in Intro to Comp Sci. It is a few paragraphs about my current research. Notice the background color... I mixed it myself! Woo-Hoo! I know it ain't much, but its a start.
Anyway, I hope eveyone is well!
Peace,
Joe

I don't know why, but I have taken it upon myself to update everyone about the career of Michael Jordan using this webpage, mostly. So... just when noone thought he could do it again, he did. He scored 45 the other night, furthering his record for most 40+ games. He also dunked a few times. It was great. Check out the story before the link gets old.
Also, Nick pointed out to me that with the engagement of Peeg and Stacy he and I will be the only unhitched Chandlers now. For those of you who know me well, I sort of tried that once and it didn't really work. So here's my plan: since all the good ones seem to be taken, I'll just have to work fast once I get into Grad school. Or, as Nick said, he and I could just not worry about it and become like the "Wild and Crrrazy Guys" of Saturday Night Live Fame. Imagine that, Pnutbu and Jellee as two swingin' bachelors! Awesome! Anyway, I figure this whole schoolin' thing should come first and all, since I do want one of them fancy "Dr." prefixes to my name. Yep.
Thats all I suppose. Spring registration is tomorrow. My last term at BSC. Kinda crazy I say. I'd like to know where I'll be in the Fall but those pesky schools don't let you know until around April. Oh well. Such is the life.
I hope everyone is well!
Peace,
Joe
